Head of Consumer
Full Time | San Francisco , Remote
Description
Loyal is an early stage company developing drugs to help dogs live longer, healthier lives. Our mission is to give dogs & their owners more time together, and to build the most loved pharmaceutical brand. Loyal is backed by top tier investors.
Loyal is hiring a Head of Consumer.
This is an executive-track role. You will have the opportunity to design and build the consumer strategy of Loyal nearly from scratch. You will lead Loyal’s interactions with Pet Parents and ensure brand consistency across all channels including vets, peers, talent, investors, and Pet Parents. This is a ‘swiss army knife’ role - great for someone with a consumer mind who loves all aspects of building a consumer-facing company.
Loyal is founded and led by a first-gen, female CEO – we encourage and look forward to diverse applicants. You can learn more about our mission here and our culture here.
You will...
Design and manage Loyal’s brand and communications
Maintain brand aesthetic across our consumer-focused efforts
Build an engaging community of Pet Parents and vets
Work with the scientific team to design and execute citizen science projects, for example our study of dog facial greying
Explore non-Rx product opportunities, determine if they strategically fit Loyal, and if so, build the team to run these
Work with our Director of Veterinary Medicine to educate vets about Loyal and the aging thesis
Ideate and execute on collaborations with other brands
Work in tandem with Animal Health execs to build and begin executing on our go-to-market strategy
Build, mentor, and lead the consumer team and play a leading role in related hires (e.g., marketing)
Design and ship simple advertising campaigns to test brand positioning, build communities, and other non-sales-oriented aims
About you
Previously gone “zero to one” in developing another company’s brand, go-to-market strategy, as a leader or high responsibility team member
You may have previously been a founder or founding team member at a consumer startup
You likely have 5-10 years of work experience, although we encourage those outside this range who are otherwise a good fit to still apply.
You should be comfortable managing others - laterally, up, and direct reports
Comfortable communicating about a technical-based product in a regulated area
Mission motivated and empathetic to Pet Parents
How you work and think:
You should be excited by the idea of building out a portion of company from 0.25 to 1
You should have a track record of operating - until the team grows, you will be designing and then executing on your strategy
Startup mindset: work fast, low ego, comfortable with uncertainty, and collaborative.
Loves to learn and excited to self-teach yourself random topics as relevant to the company and projects. While you don’t need to have a biology background for this role, you will need to become comfortable with communicating Loyal’s scientific thesis!
Previous experience presenting to executives, board members a plus
